Kept
Kept brings discarded objects back into the light and gives them a new life and purpose.
I find them where I roam: along abandoned desert trails, in scrapyards, in places most people walk right past. Each one had a previous life. For whatever reason, it caught my eye and seemed ready to become something new.
A vintage gas valve becomes the lid of a wheel-thrown vessel. A 1930s fruit strainer becomes part of a sculpture. I build each work around its object, its story and what I can read of its history, so the clay answers what was already there.
These aren't puzzles to decode. They're good objects, given a second life as something beautiful.
